Episode #54 - Thunder Rumble

During a fierce series of storms, Spider-Man finds himself battling not only a small band of criminals using the weather as cover for their robberies - but also runs afoul of the god Vulcan himself! Wallopin' websnappers!

Review:

Just when you thought it was safe to open your book of mythology, our favorite hero is placed in another bizarre match-up against one of the inhabitants of Mars - the god Vulcan -- who is trying to plunder the planet of its supply of gold. Needless to say, his matching of wits against a pair of petty criminals using nitroglycerin to break into bank vaults is tame by comparison. But there's no question that throwing a mythological god from Greek (and Roman) mythology into Spider-Man's adventures feels out of place, and the episode suffers as a result.

The animation is serviceable, although it still doesn't match the first season in terms of production values or quality (and that's quite a knock against it). Small children and fans of the series will dig it. But otherwise, it's one of the weaker entries.
