Review:

If you’ve read any of my previous reviews, you’re aware that I’m fond of this show, as are most others who watched it as they grew. If you’re looking for a fun, light hearted action show than I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this show, even though I admit to like Spider-Man: The Animated Series and the recent Spider-Man: The New Animated Series a lot more.

However, I couldn’t recommend watching this to even the most hardcore of Spidey fans. Videoman makes his third appearance in the show, which for those keeping count, means he appeared more than any other villain in the show. This version is now a superhero and boy does the episode suffer because of it. I honestly struggled to make it to the end, and by around ¾ of the way through, I shut off the sound and started listening to Snow Patrol. I couldn’t wait for this to end. I’ve watched some crap in my time as Webmaster here, but I haven’t refused to fully watch anything since the time I fast forward through the first season of Fantastic Four on DVD.

For those not in the know, Videoman was someone’s attempt to cash in on the increasing popularity of Arcades at the time this show was produced, and he was later planned to be featured in the proposed X-Men cartoon that thankfully never got made. There’s a cool cameo by the mutants at the end of the episode, but that’s about it as far as positives go for this episode.
