The Scorpion started out as private investigator working for J. Jonah Jameson to try and discover if there was any connection between Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Jameson later offered Gargan the
opportunity to publicly defeat Spider-Man by undergoing an operation to splice his genetic codes with those of a Scorpion.
After he defeated Spider-Man, he discovered the operation has turned him into a freak. Desperate to find a cure for his
condition, Scorpion went on a rampage in New York, until Spider-Man stopped him, with the help of Jameson.
After joining the Insidious Six and failing to kill Spider-Man yet again, Scorpion focused his efforts on finding a
cure, so he could marry Sarah, his girlfriend
