X51 was an ‘antique’ machine man who suffered heavy damage and was sent to be crushed. After refusing to be crushed and helping save Jamie from a Machine Man attack, Spider-Man befriended the robot and introduced him to the Human Resistance, where he helped them try and make counter Earth a better place.
No one is sure how X51 managed to gain thought and feelings, but everyone is glad he did.
