Review: Given how many cartoons I watched as a kid, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at the majority of special Christmas episodes I’ve seen. The reasons for this are two, due to living in the UK, I generally saw most Christmas episodes in the heat of summer, and two, Christmas episodes usually suck. Badly.

Unfortunately, both of the points above apply to this episode. It was simply lousy. I’ve never been one for Morlock episodes, I think most of their designs bordered on being a sin against nature, and their characters were simply dull, with Leech being the most annoying. Having a sob story about how he’s not going to survive Christmas wasn’t going to tuck at my heartstrings. In fact, I almost saw an upside to it!

It was clear that the episode was written to show that there are those less fortunate than us out there, but I never understood why so many shows decide to do this at Christmas, a time which should be a cause for celebration and the coming together of family and such. So, given that this was a Christmas sob story about a character I didn’t actually like, this proved to be harder to sit through than most Christmas episodes.

Jubilee taking Wolverine Christmas shopping was simply awful to watch. There’s no way in hell that Wolverine should ever be shown Christmas shopping. I’ve already had enough of typing about it.

There was some humour in the episode, most of it lame, but it was still better than anything else on offer. Gambit actually got a chuckle or two out of me, especially his “You do not warm up such a meal. Gambit does not make TV dinners!”

Having Yourself A Morlock Little Xmas is arguably the show’s weakest episode. If you didn’t see this then you haven’t missed anything.
