In 1995, Marvel premiered the first Gargoyles comic book series. While the book directly references events from the animated series, it is not considered part of the overall Gargoyles mythos - it is an out-of-continuity title. Greg Weisman, the creator of Gargoyles, did not have any direct involvement in the story development of the comic series. The series ran for eleven issues in total.
