SLAVE LABOR GRAPHICS
In June 2005, it was announced that a series of Disney-licensed, bi-monthly Gargoyles
comic books would be created by Slave Labor Graphics. Gargoyles #1 was
released on June 21, 2006 and promptly sold out. The Gargoyles comic was written by series creator
Greg Weisman and continued the storyline of the animated television series from the first two seasons,
supplanting the ABC Network third season, Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles, which Weisman and the fanbase
regard as non-canonical. A spin-off comic mini-series written by Weisman, titled Gargoyles: Bad Guys, also saw
print from Slave Labor Graphics. The Slave Labor Graphics Gargoyles comic titles are officially considered canon.
In late 2008, it was announced that due to Disney increasing its licensing fees, Slave Labor Graphics would
not be renewing the Gargoyles license. Eight of the twelve issues of Gargoyles were released as single issues, and four
of the six Gargoyles: Bad Guys were released. The final two issues of Gargoyles: Bad Guys and four of
Gargoyles were later released in the comic trades collecting both series in 2009. Both Gargoyles and
Gargoyles: Bad Guys are available in tradepaperback form in their entirety.
*Please note that Gargoyles #9 - 12 and Gargoyles: Bad Guys #5 - 6 are only available in trade paperback form.
