Episode #5 - Swarm Written By: Dennis Marx Music Composed By: John Douglas Guest Starring: Al Fann as Swarm Review: There’s some pretty weird stuff going on in this episode, gentle readers. If this was any decade but the 80’s, I’d imagine a story about your heroes fighting a man made of bees who controls other bees would’ve been immediately dismissed, but nope, it’s all good here. Swarm is probably one of the show’s most baffling episodes and is filled with illogical storytelling and daft scenarios. This isn’t the problem, however. The problem is that the episode is really, really tedious. The thing I found most interesting about the episode was Spider-Man fighting his friends. It’s always cool to see the heroes battle each other, even if it’s not exactly an original idea anymore. There was no doubt that Spider-Man is the undisputed star of the show but they never really deliberately put down either Firestar or Iceman in an attempt to prove Spidey’s superiority. Swarm was an utterly retarded villain, with a really silly origin. The fact he did little other than shout his own name over and over again, and was eventually foiled by a nonsensical conclusion made this character one worth forgetting. The jokes here aren’t really worth a full paragraph either. Swarm isn’t anything worth setting the VCR for, there are a lot better episodes to be found in this show. Screenshots: |
