The younger brother of Scott, he believed that Alex died in the plane crash that took their parents. However whilst Scott was sent to an orphanage before Professor Xavier took him in, Alex was adopted by a couple in Hawaii and both brothers were unaware that the other was still alive.
They were reunited when Alex used his mutant powers and alerted Cerebro. They were both offered a chance to join Magneto in his Sanctuary on Asteroid M and both expected, wanting to rid themselves of the pain that came with their powers. After they realised their mistake, they gradually reverted back to normal, presumably due to one dosage not being enough. Alex returned to the Masters family, and considered becoming a pro surfer. He helped The X-Men defeat Apocalypse and his Horsemen.
