The former lab assistant of Bruce Banner, an accidental chemical spill of
gamma liquids increased Sterns intelligence a thousand-fold, and warped his mind in the process.
Wanting the Hulk’s brute strength for himself, The Leader stole one of The Mandarin’s rings, and attempted to
travel back in time to the place where the gamma reactor first exploded, and take Banner’s place and claim
The Hulk’s strength.
After sending both Iron Man and The Hulk back in time, Leader was caught by Rhodie, and continued to carry
out his plans, as long as he agreed to help Julia. He failed in his attempts to gain the strength, and was
sucked into the portal created by The Mandarin’s rings.
