Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, initially called Spider-Man: The Animated Chronicles, debuted in 2003 on MTV and ran for thirteen episodes in total. The short-lived series included an impressive voice cast, cutting-edge animation and a more adult tone. The original series description is below.

"Based on the legendary Marvel comic book, and fresh off the hit motion picture, Spider-Man has been developed into a never-before-seen computer-animated style that will bring a fresh new look to this timeless hero. The animated series follows the adventures of Peter Parker, who develops superhuman powers after being bitten by a genetically mutated spider. Now in college, Peter struggles to lead something of a normal life even as he juggles academics, works for the Daily Bugle and has an on-again off-again relationship with the love of his life, Mary Jane Watson. In his spare time, he battles super-villains, relentless criminals and the misguided media.

Get ready for the high-flying action and excitement of the all-new Spider-Man series. The groundbreaking cinematic quality, cutting-edge effects, and elaborate detailed sets, each unite to produce unique high-impact animation like never before."

Spider-Man: The New Animated Series is currently available on DVD home video and for digital download.
