Review by RoyalRubble

I was hoping another story featuring the Hulk would be somewhat enjoyable, but this one wasn't. I didn't find anything funny in this episode, some jokes were terrible, others too gross and a lot of other stuff that happened didn't really make any sense. The only thing I kind of liked was how both Spider-man and the Hulk revealed their secret identities to each other but other than that the episode didn't really have anything good to offer. The villains of this episode are the Phalanx, a techno-organic alien race who is easily defeated in a couple of minutes towards the ending, in order for pretty much everything this episode started to end and not be continued and probably even mentioned again throughout the rest of the show. The Phalanx did have a pretty cool design here though.

Hulk is the first guest-star to return for a second episode - and this second appearance is worse than his first. Here the Hulk is sick, infected by the Phalanx, which leads to some pretty bad jokes like him sneezing and vomiting in Spidey's house. There really wasn't any need for any of that; we know the Hulk is supposed to be sick, so just showing him being weak or tired would have been enough. Then of course there's the fact that Aunt May has come home early and now Spidey has to keep Hulk hidden from her. I think this is the first episode to rely so much on a comedic plot, which really hurts the overall story. Aunt May with earphones on can't hear anything that's going on inside the house, or outside for that matter. Nobody in the entire neighborhood hears or notices the Hulk or the alien robots fighting outside on the streets. By this point I was half-expecting the episode to end with Aunt May screaming at Peter to be quiet after he makes the smallest sound; similar to some of the old Tex Avery cartoons.

And the jokes about Peter not being responsible enough to take care of any of his pets was annoying. I understand that on this show he's supposed to be still learning about "great responsibility" but he should be able to take care of a goldfish by this time. Overall, this is probably my least favorite episode yet and I kind of hope it stays that way (meaning I hope there won't be any other episodes as bad as this one).
