Apart from the 'kid Loki with the runny nose' gag, this episode was entertaining to me. Thor was a force, the teamwork was evident and well done (for those who have complained about the lack of teamwork and usefulness of the team this should make you happier).

The comedic approach of Ultimate Spider-Man reminds me a little of Planet Sheen: almost absolute absurdity at times. I believe that there was alot of negative online feedback about Planet Sheen when it was being made. In part because it was a spin off of a show many people liked. Maybe also in part because some people did not like the style of humor. Comedy is difficult. It is hard to make people laugh, especially if they do not want to laugh. Then when you combine varying age groups, varying ethnic backgrounds, personal experiences, and things like that, it makes it even more difficult. Action and drama are subjective also, but they seem to be more straightforward than is comedy. It is not a coincidence that network live comedies use laughboxes as an indication to viewers on how a comment or action should be received. But for me, I do not recalll an animated show that has ever made me laugh out loud more than Planet Sheen. Not Regular Show, not Adventure Time, not Amazing World of Gumball.

Ultimate Spider-Man has some of that same tone, although not as funny yet, and with action mixed in. Peter Parker is sometimes used like Sheen was in Planet Sheen, doing obviously fatuous things, for the purpose of advancing the story, and later on he does more expected intelligent Peter Parker things, in order to bring a resoultion to the story. The silly aspects are obviously so, even when they are not funny, which makes it clear to me as a viewer the manner in which I am to interpret the story being told.
