A former SHILED employee who believed that humanity must defend itself from the threat of mutants, Trask left SHIELD to create his own ‘guardian of the human race’, a gigantic, heavily armed robot called The Sentinel.
Trask kidnapped Wolverine in order to test his new robot in battle against a mutant, and once it defeated Wolverine, he set it loose on members of The X-Men and The Brotherhood before Magneto and Wanda destroyed it. After SHIELD learned what Trask had done, he was arrested for crimes against mutants.
He was later released in order to reinstate his Sentinel operation but put them to better use – destroying Apocalypse’s domes.
